Do your employees care?

On a recent business trip to Florida, I had an experience that will never be forgotten. My colleague and I had finished a week of intense training for one of our clients, and on the drive back to the hotel we decided it was time for a quick bite to eat.

Upon arriving at the restaurant establishment, we found that the front doors were locked. The sign indicated that they were open for another 30 minutes. I was in the car and ready to move on, but my colleague stood at the door with a confused look on his face,

Going the Extra Mile

There are many opportunities that are brought before me in regards to customer service and sales. Because I work with companies all across North America developing their sales culture, I am keenly aware of potential opportunities when they are missed.

My most recent experience in regards to salesmanship is a more personal level, but something that I am sure that we have all felt in some way or another. My wife and I were looking for a replacement vehicle for her, and we wanted to make the decision the right one.

Thinking outside the box

In the sales world a lot depends on how we make the initial approach to captivate our soon-to-be new client. Questions emerge such as: What angle do I take? How can I build credibility? How do I “WOW” them with my expertise and get my foot in the door to be heard? All of these questions and more can be answered with four words: Think outside the box.

Becoming a Consultant

When most people think of a salesperson, they think of the pushy and overbearing individual on the other end of a blocked caller ID phone call while you are eating dinner with your family. This "salesperson" has one agenda: get your money. They take no thought of what you actually want or need, but are ready to offer you a deal that would make you feel guilty if you did not take it. You find it hard to say "no" and you decide it is easier to just hang up before they start talking next time...
